As most of you know, I have fibromyalgia.  Well, I've also developed a painful skin rash due to the fibromyalgia now.  I've gotten so tired of all of the prescriptions.  My doctor gave me a prescription for the skin rash.  It did not really work.  So, I decided to make my own with some essential oils.  A friend swears by essential oils, and I figured I had nothing to lose.

Save Money on Cable/Satellite

As most of you know, I got rid of cable/satellite probably 5 years ago.  It has saved $1000s.  We watch all of our tv with the use of our antennae and our Roku.  This means I don't have monthly fees to watch tv.  I do pay for a couple of services, Hulu Plus, and Netflix.  These are $7.99 a piece.  So, basically I pay $16 a month.  This is much cheaper than cable and satellite.

I am constantly surprised how much people pay each month for their groceries.  We would never survive if I paid the the same amount.  We spend maybe $250 a month for 3 people.  This includes any items needed for the house and dog food.  Check out all of the ways you can save on your groceries.

I don't know about you but I grew up with Vicks when I was sick.  My mom used to rub it on me all of the time when I was congested.  I still like the tingling feeling and menthol smell when I am sick.  I don't know if it is the memories of being taken care of or the Vicks that makes me feel so much better.

You might have seen my previous post on how to make homemade Febreeze.  Well, I have improved it.  At least, I like it much better.  It may be a little more expensive but still a lot cheaper than what you would pay at the store.  I think it is better than Febreeze.

How do you make cut flowers last longer?  There are several small steps to make your flowers last longer.  First of all, make sure that you cut the stems of your flowers at an angle.  You should trim them every day or so that it soaks up more water.  Also, make sure that you trim all of the leaves off of the stems that will below the water level.

Couponing 101

If you haven't been a couponer before, it can be a little daunting to get started.  These days it is even more intimidating because of all the shows about couponing like Extreme Couponing.  You do not have to have couponing run your life like most of the people on those shows.  I would start out slowly.  This way you don't get overwhelmed.

I remember when I was little, we did all kinds of craft projects with decoupage.  I love making decoupage items.  You can make great presents with decoupage.  You can also use the glue to put labels on jars.

Updated:  I have updated this post.  I like it better than Febreeze.  This is my favorite homemade product, I think!!!

I am so excited about this homemade product for the house.  You can make just about any of the products for the house.  This can save you loads of money each year by doing this.  Most of the products on the market are overpriced.  At least, I think so.

Thrifty Tip-Hurricane Flashlights

Ok, this one is a little different but that is because I am trying to get ready for Hurricane Isaac.  If you do not have flashlights and want to save money on them, I have an option for you.  You can use the solar lights that you have outside.  Most of the solar lights put out quite a bit of light.

Tuesday's Thrifty Tip: Homemade Dishwasher Detergent

Here is another great way to save money, especially for those that don't necessarily like to coupon much.  You can make your own dishwasher detergent.  I was a little hesitant about this when I first heard about this, but I LOVE this one.  In fact, I think it works better than most (if not all) of the detergents I've bought in the past.  It is super easy to make!!
