Here is my next post in my series of Vinegar uses. Like I said before, I plan on doing a few post on the many uses of vinegar, and then on other common household items. Today we are going to learn more about vinegar uses for health & beauty.
- Remove mildew from shower curtains. Wash the shower curtain with a couple of towels in your washer. Use 1/2 c laundry detergent, and 1/2 c baking soda in warm water. Add 1 c of vinegar to the first rinse. remove the shower curtain before the last spin cycle (or right after it finishes if you don't get to it in time. Let it hang dry.
- Clean soap scum, mildew, etc from the bathtub, tile, and grout. Just wipe down with vinegar, and rinse with water.
- Bring out the shine on tile. Another mixture to use on tile to clean and brighten is 1 gallon of water, 1/2 c ammonia, 1/2 c white vinegar, and 1/2 c Borax.
- Get rid of germs on bathroom fixtures. Use an old spray bottle and fill with 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water. Spray on counters, fixtures, floor, etc. and wipe clean.
- Remove hard water stains in tub. Fill bathtub with hot water and 4 c of vinegar to above the stain line. Let sit for several hours. Drain tub, and scrub off the stains. The stains should come off easily.
- Remove bath tub film. Wipe with vinegar, then baking soda, and rinse with water.
- Unclog shower head. Remove the showerhead, take out the rubber washer, and boil showerhead in a pot with 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar. Let it boil for a few minutes. Let cool, rinse, and reattach.
- Remove corrosion from faucets and showerheads. Soak in diluted vinegar overnight. Just use a small pail, plastic bag, or something similar to hang on faucet.
- Clean chrome and plastic fixtures. Clean with 1 tsp salt, and 2 tbsp vinegar.
- Remove stubborn stains from the toilet. Spray with vinegar and brush. You can also add a couple of vinegar to your toilet overnight, flush and scrub.
- Remove mildew from shower doors. Wipe down with a solution of 1/2 c vinegar, 1 c ammonia, 1/4 c baking soda and 1 gallon of warm water.
- Clean shower tracks. Put 2 c of vinegar in the tracks. Leave it for a couple of hours, rinse with water and use an old toothbrush (that you no longer use) to scrub any stains. For really bad stains, heat the vinegar in the microwave first (this will make it easier to clean your microwave, too).
