Thrifty Tip: Coffee

Ok, I admit this is not a hard one for me because I don't drink coffee.  However, my husband is addicted to coffee.  Thankfully, he usually makes his own coffee at home or work.

I know that many people stop to buy coffee every morning.  This is a huge expense.  Think about it.  Say you get a coffee every morning on your way to work for $4.  Let's say 20 times a month.  That means you are spending $80 a month or $960 a year.  More likely, you are spending even more.  You could pay an extra house note a year with this money or pay off credit card debt or any other bill.

Who knows you might even save gas money, if you have to drive out of your way to stop at your favorite coffee shop.  You don't have to give it up cold turkey.  You can do it gradually.  Also, you can still treat yourself every once in awhile.  However, I have a feeling once you start seeing how much money you can save, you won't want to stop for that morning coffee.

Even if you buy expensive coffee beans and flavorings, you will save loads of money each month.  Check Pinterest or other sites on how to make your favorite coffee drink.  You might be able to make it without one of those fancy machines.  Just make your coffee at home and put aside the money you would've spent at Starbucks or your favorite coffee shop for one month.  Let me know how much money you save.
