Review:
If you like Science fiction stories that are a quick read, then you need to check out Mortimus Walker and the Secret of the White City. While it is science fiction, it is not so much so that people will be turned off. For some reason, it reminds me of the old movie Logan's Run. You know the one with Farrah Fawcett. I'm not even sure why except things aren't quite what they seem to be.
This is an enjoyable book. There is not much conflict in the book, which make the ending that much more surprising in the end for some. I kind of suspected the book would end the way it would but not everyone will.
The author did a great job of getting his readers to connect with the characters in the story. You really feel for Mortimus and how he worked hard his entire life. It is kind of like how we work our entire lives with the hopes of being able to enjoy our old age and retirement.
I would just love to see more elaboration in this book. There is not much about the people of the White City. I would love to know more about them and their interactions with the Two's.
Author Bio:
Zach Turner is a writer, teacher, and traveler. He's a fan of punk music no one else listens to and loves to make people think and laugh. Often one causes the other and both are essential to living. He has worked as a game tester and taught as a professor at USC before training nurses as a Clinical Educator. He now scours the globe looking for adventure and getting hopelessly addicted to nerdy TV shows.
He runs a blog about multi-tasking and finance on www.TheTrueGeneralist.com and when he's not traveling (rare), enjoys a good purple margarita in Austin, TX.
