For those that have suffered loss, Wishing on Willows will strike a chord. Robin, a woman with a small son, deals with the loss of her husband. She tries to overcome her loss by throwing herself into the dream she and her husband had of running a cafe. She runs Willow Tree, her cafe, and helps those in need through a grief support group, and the works of One Life, a community outreach center. Little does she know that her life is about to be turned upside down again when Ian barrels into her, literally and figuratively.
Ian is tasked with building condominiums in her town. This is a great opportunity for the community, and Robin is all for it until she realizes they want to build them where her cafe, and One Life are. So much is at stake for both of them. Can they come up with a solution? Does God bring love back into Robin's life? Will she love enter her life again?
This is a wonderful book. I did feel a little lost at the beginning, and later realized this was the second book in a series. However, it was easy to pick up the book and follow the story line. I loved that you aren't hit over the head with a typical love story. It is a lovely story, where you don't have to worry about all of the trash that is usually in romance novels.
If you are saying to yourself that you don't read romance novels, this is so much more. In fact, this is more about dealing with loss in your life, and going for your dreams. You have to let go of other people's expectations, and go for your dreams. It is not always and easy road but it is so worth it in the long run. This story will touch your heart.
I give Wishing on Willows two thumbs up. This is the perfect book for young and old. It is great for teen girls. Showing that a woman can fight for what he believes in and can take care of herself. You don't have to worry about language, sex, or anything else that people find offensive. This is the perfect book to take to the beach or read by the pool.
I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
