Thrifty Tip #2 - More Laundry Tips

I decided to add a few more money saving ideas for your laundry.

1.  Save on fabric softener sheets.  As many of you have probably already heard before, you should cut sheets in half.  That doubles the value of your softener.  You shouldn't see any difference in your laundry.

2.  If you do use your dryer, make sure that all of your clothes are untangled.  If socks are in a ball, or pants knotted up, it takes them much longer to dry.  In addition, you might put a couple of tennis balls in with your clothes.  This helps keep the clothes separated and air flow between the clothes, which cuts down on your drying time.  So this saves you money on electricity and time.

3. Do full size loads back to back.  It will cost you the same amount in electricity if you a small load or a full size load.  You will also save money on water.  It doesn't take that much more water to do a full size load than a small load.  In addition, if you dry clothes back to back, it will save you electricity.  The dryer will already be warm and won't have to work as hard to dry the clothes.

4. Use towels more than once.  I would hope you are clean when you get out of the shower.  Why would you need to clean your towel after one use of drying off your clean body.  Just make sure you hang your towel up to dry off.  If you leave it in a wad on the floor, it will get mildewed.  By washing your towels just once a week, this should cut down on the loads of laundry that you need to do each week.  Again, this means saving money on your electricity, detergent, water, etc.

So, start saving some money.  Change just a couple of your laundry habits or all of them.  You could end up saving 100s of dollars a year by changing your habits.
