TITLE: The LRE Company presents Deathtrap (A Thriller in Two Acts) by Ira Levin
LAFAYETTE, LA – Deathtrap, a play by Ira Levin, is a murderous and riotously twisting tale. Written in 1978, it holds the record for the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway and was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Play.
Welcome to the home of Sidney Bruhl, the washed-up playwright who once made fame and fortune writing successful murder mysteries for the stage. Now, with a lethal case of writer's block, Sidney plans to murder and steal the script of up-and-comer, Clifford Anderson, whose first play promises to be a smash-hit.
However, nothing in this production is as it appears. Wives, lawyers and psychics attempt to thwart Sidney's scheme, but no one knows what he's really after or what he'll do to get it.
The Lauren-Reilly Eliot Company, a Lafayette theatre and film group, is pleased to present Deathtrap, directed by Cooper Helm. Our cast includes the seasoned and extremely talented Bruce Coen, Hope Garrett Cook, Lauren Greene Whyte and Jack Sorenson. We are also very proud and excited to introduce Wilton Zenon to the Lafayette theatre community. LRE’s previous productions include Buried Child and At Home at the Zoo.
