A Great Book for Teens

Breath of Angel: A Novel (The Angelaeon Circle)
Are you looking for a book for summer reading?  If so, you might want to check out Breath of Angel: A Novel (The Angelaeon Circle) by Karyn Henley.

Breath of Angel: A Novel (The Angelaeon Circle) is a fantasy book about a young priestess, Melaia. She witnesses a terrible murder at her temple.  When she goes to check the victim, she discovers that he (the victim) has wings and that he is an angel.  The murderer shows up at the temple, in another form, asking questions.  Soon Melaia is in the middle of a feud not sure where she stands.  Everything that happens seems to come from all of the songs and stories she has been told all of her life.  This book is full of angels, shape-shifters, and more.

I was trying to remember what this reminds me of but I can't remember.  That figure.  I do know that teenage girls will like this book, at least the ones that like fantasy.  It is kind of along the same line as the vambire books but it is angels and shape-shifters instead of vampires.  There is no real love story, at least not so far.  There are hints of one but nothing full blown.  This is the first in a series of books.

I did enjoy the book.  Yes, I am a little old for teen books, and of course I am a woman who likes fantasy.  I really wish there was more of a back story.  There is not enough information about the temple.  You know like what it is a temple of.  It also doesn't say much about her being a priestess.  It just left me with quite a few questions from the beginning.  However, I enjoyed it and like that it is not full of sex and loads of graphic violence.  It has some violence but it is not overdone.  I would let my l4 year old daughter read it, and I am pretty conservative of what I let her read.

If you like teen fantasy, you will like this.  I really think teen girls will like this the best.  The only thing that you won't like is having to wait for the next book.

Disclosure:  I received this book free from the publisher through the Blogging for Books book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
