My husband has diabetes. Therefore, I am always looking for more information to help him. When he was first diagnosed, the doctor refused to speak to me about it even though my husband gave him permission. I was very upset since I was the one that fixed meals and did the shopping. I was forced to search for my own information.
I found NIDDK Clearinghouse. They will provide you with brochures on just about anything to do with diabetes. You can request your diabetes information for free.
